Every year, hundreds of thousands of high-school students in the United States apply to
colleges and universities across the country. Most colleges and universities have largely
moved their applications online. However, over 35 million paper-based transcripts are
mailed every year, adding up to well over half a billion dollars in their processing
costs per year. Further adding to the burden is the margin for error inherent in any
manual, labor-intensive process.
The founders of Docufide saw a tremendous market opportunity after realizing this and
developed a patent-pending Secure Transcript system. "Once the first version of Secure
Transcript was developed, resources were shifted to supporting our growing business,”
Docufide’s Vice President of product development, Mark Cohen said. “At the same time we
had many ideas on how to grow the product offering and wanted to include suggestions we
were receiving from our customers."
Docufide made the strategic decision to extend its internal IT capabilities through
outsourcing to meet their growing needs. One of the crucial success metrics Docufide
was accelerating the development and delivery of new features to the marketplace
without, of course, compromising quality. They chose Murano as their outsource
development partner.
Docufide’ management was impressed with how quickly the Murano team was able to take
over the development of a complex system that was written by another technology team.
After transitioning development of their website, Docufide developed specifications for
a major upgrade to Secure Transcript based on a long list of feature enhancements.
Murano’s team of experienced developers quickly came up to speed on Docufide’s entire
software set. They completed the new release successfully in just over 2 months.
All of the members of the Murano team quickly established a solid working relationship
with the Docufide team, operating as a natural extension to Docufide’s inhouse staff.
Docufide' recently won a contract to implement a statewide e-Transcript Initiative for
the state of Indiana. Docufide beat all of the competition to win this first state
contract the company had ever pursued. The Secure Transcript system gained glowing
reports for its user-friendliness and simplicity.
”Communication with Murano has not been an issue - the team has been responsive via instant messenger and email which has been an effective platform to engage in ‘conversations’ as needed to answer questions and detail outstanding issues,” Mark Cohen commented.
