Kharkov, home of one of Murano Software development centers, is the cradle of winners
Three Kharkov teams are world finalists in the Imagine Cup, the world’s premier student technology competition held annually by Microsoft. In July 2008 the teams will partake in the final global contest in Paris.

Students from every corner of the planet can participate in the year-long Imagine Cup competition, which begins locally and culminates in a global event. Participants prove their skills in fields such as Software Design, Embedded Development, Game Development, Short Film, Photography, Interface Design, Information Technology, Algorithm or the Project Hoshimi Programming Battle.

This year, Ukrainian teams have successfully demonstrated their skills and talent in the Imagine Cup. Three of the four Ukrainian teams hail from Kharkov and have reached the semi-final round of competition. Kharkov is a center of the Ukranian aerospace industry and a scientific center, with  17 universities with 200,000 students. The alma mater for the three wreath-bearing Kharkov teams is the Institute of Radio Electronics. Murano Software has a well-established software development center in Kharkov with tight connections with its Universities.
